Statements Regarding the Signing of House Bill 147

Providing Greater Access to Job Training Funds

Santa Fe, N.M. –

“This change allows New Mexico companies to have more flexibility in hiring the high wage workers that they need to make local economies succeed,” stated bill cosponsor Representative Bill McCamley (D-Mesilla Park).

“This bill reflects the commitment of legislative Democrats to job creation as a key solution to poverty, and I am thankful for the wide bipartisan support this bill received through the legislative process.”

“This is a great measure not only for the Eastern side of the state but for the entire state of New Mexico,” said bill cosponsor Representative George Dodge (D-Santa Rosa). “With unanimous bipartisan support, we have been successful in giving employers access to much-needed funding for training that strengthens and grows their businesses and their employees. This bill is sound policy, and will have an economic development impact for years to come.”
