Sariñana, an experienced teacher and educator, appointed to House Education Committee
Santa Fe, NM Recently elected Representative Debra Sariñana (D-Albuquerque) started the 53rd Legislature with appointments to the House Education Committee and House Energy Environment, and Natural Resources Committee. Representative Sariñana will bring her experience as an educator and military veteran to focus on improving education and creating economic opportunity in her district and across the state.
“This session, I will be working to ensure teachers and students are treated fairly and have the ability to focus on education without the fear of being penalized in an environment where testing may be valued higher than progress,” said Representative Sariñana. “I will also focus on how energy resources can provide economic opportunities in my district.”
The House Education Committee hears all legislation related to primary education, higher education, public and private schools, as well as teachers and students. The House Energy, Environment, and Natural Resources committee focuses on legislation related to the regulation, study, and use of New Mexico’s vast energy and natural resources and their impact on the state’s air, land and water.
