Veterans Benefits Fair in Las Vegas, NM

"One-Stop Shop” For Veterans, Guard/Reserve/Transitioning Military Members and Their Families to Learn About VA/State Veterans’ Benefits

(LAS VEGAS, NM)— Military Veterans, Guard/Reserve Members, and transitioning active-duty military personnel can learn about the many federal and state benefits available for them and their families at a Veterans’ Benefits Fair in Las Vegas, NM, on May 30th from 9am-3pm at the Abe Montoya Recreation Center Gymnasium (1751 North Grand Ave).

All veterans, Guard/Reserve members, transitioning active-duty personnel, families and caregivers are encouraged to attend this free “one-stop” informational fair presented by the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services (NMDVS)--the state agency which advocates on behalf of and provides assistance for the 170,000 veterans living in New Mexico

NMDVS Las Vegas-based Veterans’ Service Officer Karen Abeyta is scheduled to be joined by representatives from the VA and other federal, state and local agencies with information for veterans and their families about:

  • VA Healthcare and Counseling
  • Compensation and Disability Ratings
  • Low-Income Pensions
  • State Benefits
  • Assistance for homeless and near-homeless veterans and families
  • Employment assistance
  • Small business assistance for veterans
  • Burial Benefits
  • and many more benefits and services for veterans and their families

“This is a great opportunity for veterans and their families to get information about their benefits—benefits which veterans have earned through their military service for our country,” said NMDVS Secretary Jack Fox, who will be on hand to welcome veterans and their families to the Benefits Fair. “Everything will be here under one roof—making it easy for veterans in San Miguel, Guadalupe and Mora Counties to gather as much information as they can without having to drive all over the place or spending a lot of time on the phone or a computer.”

According to the latest VA data, more than 3,000 veterans live in the tri-county area.
