Representative and House Majority Floor Whip Doreen Gallegos has made advocacy for children, families and our community a central part of her life. She is dedicated to creating greater opportunity for the people of Southern New Mexico. Doreen points to her experience with children and families as key to her decision to seek the legislative seat. After graduating from New Mexico State University with an undergraduate and master’s degree in Social Work, she worked with youth support agencies and in private practice, and for the past 13 years has been the Executive Director of Mesilla Valley CASA, a local nonprofit that advocates for abused and neglected children. Doreen lives in the Las Alturas area with her son Nicolas.
Representative Doreen Gallegos currently serves on the House Rules and Order of Business Committee, the House Local Government, Elections Land Grants and Cultural Affairs Committee and the House Taxation and Revenue Committee.
