Rep. Lundstrom (D-Gallup welcomes Gov. Susana Martinez and Others To Announce Latest Advancements to Bring Jobs to Gallup-McKinley County

Santa Fe, NM – Thursday, February 9th, 2017 – Gallup-McKinley County is becoming a role model in the state for its proactive approach to economic development in the creation of the Gallup Energy Logistics Park. This project represents a major initiative to drive economic development and create jobs in McKinley County. Local and state economic development officials will discuss the latest advancements in this ongoing project.

Who: Rep. Patty Lundstrom (D-Gallup) welcomes Gov. Susana Martinez, Tommy Haws (President, Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation), Andrew Johnsen (BNSF Railway), Robert Roche (Owner, Gallup Land Partners), and Matt Geisel (Cabinet Secretary, NM Economic Development Department).

“This new facility will enable increased trucking and shipping in northwest New Mexico,” said Rep. Patty Lundstrom (D-Gallup), the Executive Director of the Greater Gallup Economic Development Corporation (GGEDC). “This is such an exciting project for both the businesses of McKinley County and our entire community. By connecting ourselves to the global marketplace, we can increase access to economic opportunity and create jobs. We hope to be a model for our rural communities across the state, to say that with planning and coordination with stakeholders, these major infrastructure improvements can become a reality.”

BNSF Railway Company recently announced the Gallup Energy Logistics Park as a Certified Site optimal for customer development. The $6,500,000 facility, which is expected to commence operations this year, will provide businesses located in the 2,500-acre park with premier shipping logistics services by supporting the reliable and efficient shift of long-haul freight from highway to rail, while strengthening the region’s transportation infrastructure and driving the region’s economy.
