House Democrats’ Bill to Invest in Road Infrastructure Passes Committee
Santa Fe, NM – Thursday, the House Transportation, Public Works, and Capital Improvements Committee passed HB 3, which would appropriate $862.8 million to the New Mexico Department of Transportation to provide improvements and updates to the state’s highway infrastructure. HB 3 was introduced by Democratic Reps. Antonio “Moe” Maestas (D-Albuquerque) and Roberto “Bobby” Gonzales (D-Taos) to invest in local communities and improve roads across the state.
“Roads and infrastructure are key to economic growth, and this appropriation will ensure rural and urban communities alike can lay the foundations for strong economies,” said Rep. Bobby Gonzales, Chair of the House Transportation, Public Works, and Capital Improvements Committee.
Rep. Moe Maestas, Vice Chair of the House Transportation, Public Works, and Capital Improvements Committee said, “New Mexico’s infrastructure desperately needs an update to attract new businesses, serve existing businesses, and ensure all New Mexicans have access to paved roads across the state.”
