House Education Committee Vice Chair: Educators to Legislators Day A Huge Success
Santa Fe – Today, the Senate Education and House Education Committees hosted a special joint hearing, coined “Educators to Legislators”, to give teachers an opportunity to speak directly to legislators about the tools and initiatives students need to succeed.
The committee hearing was widely attended by teachers from across the state. During the hearing, teachers spoke about increasing student success, teacher training, and professional advancement, and the challenges schools face.
“Today’s Educators to Legislators Day was a huge success. Teachers spend weekdays in the classroom teaching our kids—they have one of the most important jobs in our state. It is important that our committee hosted an opportunity to hear their concerns and ideas on what we can do to improve education in our state first hand,” said House Education Committee Vice Chair Andres Romero (D-Albuquerque).
Today’s hearing was part of House Democrats commitment to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed no matter where they live or what their background.
