House Leadership Honors Representative Henry “Kiki” Saavedra
Santa Fe, NM – Today, the House of Representatives honored the late Representative Henry “Kiki” Saavedra (D-Albuquerque), who passed away this morning. Speaker Brian Egolf (D-Santa Fe) and Rep. Patty Lundstrom (D-Gallup) released the following statements:
“Rep. Kiki Saavedra was a dedicated public servant, friend, and mentor, who always stood up for his constituents and helped new legislators,” said Speaker of the House Brian Egolf. “He will be remembered as a remarkable statesman in New Mexico history.”
“It has been the honor of my career to learn from and work alongside Rep. Kiki Saavedra. He dedicated his life to public service and we are better off because of it. It is a loss for all New Mexicans,” said Rep. Patty Lundstrom, Chair of the House Appropriations and Finance Committee.
Rep. Saavedra was elected in 1977 and served until 2014. His decorated tenure in public service includes being a veteran of the U.S. Air National Guard and serving as chairman of the House Appropriations and Finance Committee.
