McCamley, Morales to Urge Governor to Add Bill in Support of Net Neutrality to Legislative Session

Santa Fe, NM - On Tuesday, January 30th, Rep. Bill McCamley and Sen. Howie Morales (D-Silver City), sponsors of measures that would protect small businesses, students, schools, and families in New Mexico from price gauging and unequal internet access, will hold a press conference to urge the Governor to send a message to the legislature so the measures may be considered in the 2018 Legislative session.

WHAT: Net Neutrality Press Conference

WHERE: NM State Capital Room 322

WHEN: Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 10 a.m.

The bills, sponsored by Rep. McCamley and Sen. Morales come after national regulations put in place to protect consumers were partially repealed in December 2017, giving unfair market power to providers. HB 144 ensures that New Mexicans still have access to broadband without being unfairly disadvantaged by slow connections, or blocked content, applications, or websites. Democrats know net neutrality protects New Mexicans, particularly small businesses and students.
