New Mexico House Leadership Statement on U.S. Senator Tom Udall’s Announcement
Santa Fe – Today, Speaker of the House Brian Egolf (D-Santa Fe) released the following statement in response to U.S. Senator Tom Udall’s announcement that he will not seek re-election in 2020:
“Senator Tom Udall has spent his life in public service making significant progress for New Mexico families,” said Speaker Brian Egolf (D-Santa Fe). “Over the years, Senator Udall has been a colleague, friend, and mentor to me, and it’s been an honor working alongside someone so passionate about moving New Mexico forward. Senator Udall leaves behind a legacy of bolstering conservation efforts, advocating for equality, and ensuring that our great state has a seat at the table. I’m incredibly grateful for the Senator’s service, and I look forward to continue working together to fight against the Trump policies that do not represent our shared New Mexican values. Thank you, Tom and Jill, for your service — New Mexico has been enriched by your strong leadership.”
Tom Udall has been serving the people of New Mexico as a U.S. Senator since 2009, and before that was a Congressman and an Attorney General.
