PASSED: Legislation to Reform Lobbyist Reporting
Santa Fe, NM – Today, the House Chamber passed a bill sponsored by Representative Christine Chandler (D-Los Alamos) and Senator Daniel Ivey-Soto (D-Albuquerque) to reform lobbyist reporting and bolster government transparency. Senate Bill 191 closes the loophole that allows expenses under $100 to go unreported.
“I am proud to have worked on this legislation with the Secretary of State and Sen. Ivey-Soto to close the lobbyist reporting loophole. This legislation is an important win to ensure greater transparency and accountability within our government,” said Rep. Christine Chandler. “New Mexicans deserve the right to know what lobbyists are spending on in order to influence legislation.”
House Democrats understand that government works best when it is transparent and accessible to all New Mexicans. Senate Bill 191 now heads to the Governor’s desk.
