House Democrats to Urge Governor to Add Bill Barring Border Wall Construction on State Land to Legislative Session

Santa Fe, NM – On Monday, January 22, sponsors of House Bill 138, a bill that would bar construction of a border wall on state land, will hold a press conference to urge the Governor to send a message so the bill may be considered in the 2018 legislative session.

WHAT: Press Conference on bill to bar construction of a border wall on state land

WHERE: New Mexico Capitol Building, Room 310

WHEN: Monday, January 22, 2018 at 2:30 p.m.

HB 138 bars the Trump Administration from building a border wall on New Mexico lands. House Democrats firmly believe a border wall will be counterproductive to meaningful immigration reform. This bill was introduced by Representative Bill McCamley and is co-sponsored by Representatives Javier Martinez (D-Albuquerque), Angelica Rubio (D-Las Cruces), Stephanie Garcia Richard (D-Los Alamos), Joanne Ferrary (D-Las Cruces), Christine Trujillo (D-Albuquerque), and Linda Trujillo (D-Santa Fe).
