PRESS CONFERENCE: Mapping the Path to Victory for Early Childhood Education Amendment
Santa Fe, NM – Tomorrow, Thursday, February 8th, Representatives Antonio “Moe” Maestas, Javier Martínez and Senator Linda Lopez will map out a pathway to victory for the Early Childhood Education Amendment, HJR 1. At the press conference the Representatives and Senator will also outline how universal access to early childhood education would close the achievement gap.

HJR 1 gained momentum on Tuesday, February 6th when it passed the New Mexico House with broad Democratic support and will now makes its way to the Senate.
HJR 1 specifically proposes investing one percent of the Land Grant Permanent Fund in early childhood education programs including funding for universal pre-kindergarten, expanding access to family services, increasing home-visiting programs, promoting professional development for teachers, and assuring accountability for programs.
