Rep. Stephanie Garcia Richard: Bill Will Enable Students to Continue Their Education
HB 108 Creates Uniformity in Transfer Credits Among New Mexico Colleges
Santa Fe, N.M. - Today, Representative Stephanie Garcia Richard’s (D-Los Alamos) bill that would help students continue their education by creating uniformity in transfer credits among New Mexico colleges unanimously passed the New Mexico House. HB 108 sets up guidelines and provides clarity for transfer students so they will be able to complete their degrees on time and enter the workforce.
“Too many times, I’ve heard of students losing a chance at furthering their education due to inconsistent transfer credit rules. This bill will open new opportunities for students by ensuring they can continue their education without losing credit for the coursework they have already completed,” said Rep. Garcia Richard.
HB 108 passed with a 60-0 vote and will now move to the New Mexico Senate for consideration.
