Representative Daymon Ely Outlines His Vision for His First Legislative Session
Daymon Ely Will Serve on the House Judiciary Committee Bringing His Legal Expertise to the House of Representatives
Santa Fe, NM – Recently elected Representative Daymon Ely (D-Corrales), is bringing his vision of a diversified economy in New Mexico to the 53rd legislative session. In the opening days of the session, Rep. Ely was appointed to both the House Judiciary and the House Local Government, Elections, Land Grants and Cultural Affairs Committees, where his legal experience and expertise will be indispensable. Rep. Ely is committed to ensuring that children in New Mexico have the economic opportunities that they need to succeed and he hopes that he can reach across the aisle on this issue.
“I am working to bring young people like my son back to our state. Right now, our young people don’t have jobs they need stay in New Mexico. That is why diversifying and strengthening our economy is essential” stated Representative Daymon Ely (D-Corrales). “We can do that by growing our film industry and becoming a leader in renewable energy.”
The House Judiciary Committee hears all legislation that deals with New Mexico’s criminal code. In addition, Representative Ely will serve as Vice-Chair on the House Local Government, Elections, Land Grants and Cultural Affairs Committee where he will bring his experience as a former County Commissioner to the committee. This is Representative Ely’s first term as a House member.
